This year has been another busy year for our club, as we had again applied to FFI to
visit 2 clubs and to host 2 clubs. I am grateful to our members for their hospitality,
and for their organizational skills and flexibility. The internet and the FFI
organization and staff have connected us to the world in ways we could not have
done on our own.
This year our club very successfully hosted Hamburg Germany in June, Journey
Coordinator Liz Arthur, and then hosted Shelby North Carolina in August, Journey
Coordinator Frank Spanbauer
And we travelled to Russia in May, led by .Journey Coordinator Lynda Becklund,
where we were hosted a week in Moscow and a week in Veliky Novgorod, followed
by a tour to St Petersburg. The stress of getting visas was so worth the effort to get
to know these new friends and experience their country!
In October our club travelled to Kern County California, J.C. Helen Nagy. We had a
very busy week learning first hand of their area industries and lifestyle, while
making great new friends.
In March four of our members represented Lethbridge on the FFI’s Festival at Sea
which sailed with Holland America from Buenos Aires, Argentina around South
America to Santiago, Chile. This was a super opportunity to “Talk FFI” with our FFI
staff and fellow ‘FFIers’ from clubs around the world.
This year no one from our club was a rep to the FFI Global Conference, in Boulder
Colorado. Look ahead to next year Oct 28 in New York!
I have been maintaining a Club Journeys Record File which is a one-page summary
of each of our Journeys. It includes the Committee members’ names and any
recommendations they wish to pass along to help future planners. Thanks to our
members for completing these, and I hope future committees will access these and
find it useful.
